R5 Has Arrived!

Got my R5 Astrodroid Dome kit from Cristofer Adrian today. He also has a droid building blog, you can read his posts here http://www.astrovariation.blogspot.com/

He's a fellow replica prop builder, and a great guy to talk to. Very helpful too. I was very pleased with the parts he sent so far. Here's some pics!

this garage kit will make a fine addition to my Astrodroid family!

Currently, I'm thinking of making it into this R5 from Episode IV A New Hope, unless I find another R5 with colors I like.

R5-A2 appeared in the Original version of Episode 4, then was replaced by Lucas in the "updated" FX by a CGI Ronto or Dewback like creature.

R5-A2 was an abandoned astromech droid who roamed the streets of Mos Eisley on Tatooine. He was checked for the Death Star plans and received a memory wipe. From the Wookiepedia Article R5-A2 http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/R5-A2

In 2009, Hasbro released R5-A2 as part of their Build A Droid line.

Here's another behind the scenes pic of R5-A2 pictured on the far right

A very colorful droid, it looks like it's an orange yellow in color, not the same yellow as my R2-C4 and not as dark orange as my R4-t8 are going to be.

Should be an interesting looking R5 when finished!

Update! New Pics, R4-T8 & R2-C4!

Due to lack of funds and lack of materials, and lack of funds for materials. My build projects have slowed down a bit.

Still, I've been chiseling away on what I could work on here and there.

Anyway, here are some pics of what I have so far.

Enjoy!

One of the aspects of this hobby I enjoy the most is learning new things and the fact that I get to make accurate replicas of Sci-Fi movie history, & Americana.
